POYC: Renewing your Schedule V Card

What is the Schedule V Card?

The Schedule V card is issued to patients who have been officially diagnosed with certain chronic conditions, including Coeliac Disease. Once a gastroenterologist confirms the diagnosis through all required medical tests, they will prepare the necessary documentation to make the patient eligible for the POYC Coeliac Vouchers.

Expiration of the Schedule V Card

The Schedule V card is issued with a validity period:

  • Standard Validity: 5 years
  • Extended Validity: 10 years (if the consultant specifies the condition as indefinite)

When your Schedule V card is approaching expiry, you will receive a notification from the POYC similar to:

Notification for [Name] that the Medical Entitlement for Treatment of Coeliac Disease is due to expire on [Date]. Kindly visit your medical doctor / consultant.

How to Renew the Schedule V Card

  1. Track the Expiry Date: Although POYC will notify you, it is recommended to take note of your card’s expiry date.
  2. Book Early: Schedule an appointment with your consultant before the card expires to avoid losing your voucher benefits temporarily.
  3. No Tests Needed: The renewal process does not require you to redo the initial medical tests. Those were only needed during the first application.

Important Note on Older Schedule V Cards

Please note that Schedule V cards issued before the introduction of expiry dates remain valid indefinitely. If you hold one of these older cards, no action is required, and you will continue to receive your POYC Coeliac Vouchers without interruption.
