Coeliac Association Malta has been in contact with GROM Italy following reports that certain items available at GROM Malta locations are not classified as gluten-free.
We thank GROM for their cooperation and for the transparent and honest responses to our queries.
Statement
Coeliac Association Malta have contacted GROM Italy this week enquiring on products that were reported to us at GROM Malta which may not be gluten-free.
It has been confirmed to us by GROM Italy that they are taking the necessary steps to address this issue. GROM Italy has suggested the following:
“Until the situation has been fully resolved, we strongly advise customers not to purchase any products at the Malta outlets that cannot be clearly confirmed as genuine GROM products. We do not recognise or endorse the products concerned and cannot certify them as gluten-free.”
The aim of this statement is not to shame GROM in any way. GROM gelato and other products are gluten-free and approved by the AIC (Italian Coeliac Association), this incident does not change this.
